How long does it take one person to pack a house?

On average, it takes approximately 3 to 5 days to pack a three-bedroom house. Keep in mind that this is not 1 to 2 hours per night of packing, but rather spend 3 to 5 hours. How long does it take to pack your bags for a move? It depends on how organized you want to be when you arrive at your new home. Those old shoe boxes or other rigid corrugated cardboard boxes that you have collected over the years of consumer goods could be useful for packing small items, knickknacks, and other fragile items.

And you certainly don't want to find out after the move, when some of your most valuable belongings were damaged, because you didn't pack them properly. One of the most frustrating parts of moving is packing up your things before you move just to unpack everything once you get settled. If you need to pack your house quickly and commit to devoting every waking hour to achieve it, on average it will take you about 3 to 5 days to pack a three-bedroom house. And the more effort and care it takes to pack an item, the more time the packing task will consume.

Once you've hired a moving company to handle your packing, you may be asked to send them a list of items in your home that you want to pack. Obviously, the answer varies depending on a number of factors: the size of the move, the help available with packing, the speed of packing, etc. During the on-site assessment, the inspector will let you know how you will be charged for packing services. Even if you can pack your house in several days, we strongly recommend that you don't wait until the last week before moving to start packing.

If you don't want to risk postponing the unpacking process, also hire a packing service to do so. Of course, you don't want to hear about it halfway through the packing process, when you've spent weeks sporadically packing and collecting supplies and you don't see an end in sight. You can have your family help you (your partner, your children (if they are old enough), your parents (if you are moving out of their house) or any other family member who can and is willing to give you a hand) or reach out to your friends (throw a packing party, so you can have fun with your friends while you prepare your things for move, or just ask a couple of trusted friends to help you out for a few hours every day during the last week before you move). First, these packing professionals will make an on-site estimate during which they will review your home and moving inventory and evaluate all the items you'll need to pack.

Considering that heavily furnished rooms such as the kitchen take about twice as long to pack, you can easily calculate how long it will take to pack your house to move in: 2 days for a one-bedroom apartment, 3-4 days for a two-bedroom house, 4-5 days for a three-bedroom house, 5-6 days for a four-bedroom house, etc.
